Just when it looked like the Marcus Rashford situation at Manchester United can’t get any worse, a new bit of information arrives to make that happen.

Marcus Rashford hasn’t played for Man Utd since he was dropped from the squad for the Manchester derby more than a month ago.

Since then, things have snowballed to Ruben Amorim honestly calling out Rashford in his comments to the press while the player’s transfer is going nowhere.

Now, Wayne Rooney, who was at Carrington recently on January 26, has revealed what he saw Rashford doing then was ’embarrassing’.

Wayne Rooney shares Marcus Rashford incident

Paul Scholes recently said that Rashford should be banished from the dressing room but Amorim hasn’t made any drastic decisions so far.

Rashford has been training with the first team while the Man Utd manager has maintained that the door remains open for him if he changes his ways.

While the training footage available to the public shows Rashford training as usual with the team, apparently things aren’t as rosy behind the scenes.

Speaking on The Overlap, Wayne Rooney revealed that he was recently at Carrington for “take your kids to games” day when he saw Rashford and it was ’embarrassing’.

Rooney said: “I went into Carrington on Sunday (January 26) to take my kids to games day and Marcus was out there on the training pitch with the fitness coach.

“But he was right over towards where the parents were walking past for the kids’ games. I remember looking at that and thinking, ‘If that were me on that day…how embarrassing is it that the parents are walking past?’

“It’s all getting re-done so they’re on the Academy part and he was just there with the parents walking past.”

Only Marcus Rashford can save himself

It has gone beyond the point where Amorim or Man Utd or an interested club can save Rashford and his career, only he can do so.

Gary Neville told Rooney that what he saw Rashford doing was a ‘killer’ but it isn’t something that has happened to Rashford, it’s something he’s brought upon himself.

There’s clearly a player there who scored 30 goals in all competitions in the 2022/23 season but for some reason, not only has the output disappeared, but the intangibles like professionalism and mentality seem to be all wrong.

The end of the January window should provide clarity to all sides but it’s turning into an extremely unfortunate series of events for a player who should be at the peak of his powers as the poster boy of England’s most successful club right now.
