Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo congratulate Marcus Rashford
Cristiano Ronaldo was on the pitch with Marcus Rashford for his goal, and the header was an effort the five-times Ballon d’Or winner would have been proud of.

Rashford also received congratulatory messages from Lisandro Martinez and Casemiro, among many others.
He trails Cristiano Ronaldo’s Manchester United goal tally still. The Portugal international is up to 145. This is a figure he may surpass, even if the current number 7 continues to add to it.
It does put into context Ronaldo’s remarkable tally of 701 club goals at all levels across his career.
Wayne Rooney is Manchester United’s all time leading goalscorer with 253 goals. Even if Rashford stays at United for his whole career, it is going to be a tough task to surpass this – but that won’t stop him trying.
