Manchester United teenager Luca Ercolani’s agent has compared him to Italian legend Fabio Cannavaro.
Keen to talk up the young defender, Alessandro D’Amico told Italian outlet TMW about his client’s qualities.
He said: “The first thing that comes to mind when thinking of Luca is that he is a super professional, in this respect he reminds a lot like Giorgio Chiellini.
“Physically he is not a beast like him, I would think more of a Cannavaro since I think he is perfect as a marker in a 3 or central defense in a back four.”
They are very high comparisons, and won’t do the 19-year-old any harm.

Future uncertainty
Italy under-20 international Ercolani is out of contract at the end of the season and while discussions over an extension have taken place, no resolution has yet been found.
D’Amico added: “His bond with United will expire in the summer, but we are dealing with the extension for some time. We are waiting to understand what the club plans for him and then we will decide.”

It’s going to be tough for Ercolani to break through at United, as he is well down the pecking order.
This does not bode well for young defenders already at the club, and United’s lack of commitment to Ercolani so far may tell it’s own story.
Red Devils’ coaches will know the truth about D’Amico’s comments.
If they see the Chiellini and Cannavaro traits in the young defender, a new deal will be forthcoming.
