After a long drawn out wait, Amad Diallo’s move to Manchester United is getting nearer.

Fabrizio Romano reported Diallo has received the paperwork he needs to complete his move to Old Trafford.

United announced a deal to sign Diallo was in place on deadline day at the start of October, pending a work permit.

So far United have not commented on the claims, and may not do until Diallo has flown into the UK and his deal is formally announced.

Diallo’s case was a complicated one, with Calciomercato explaining how he was brought into Italy from the Ivory Coast with a different identity.

It’s possible Brexit complications delays United announcing a deal on January 1, but this latest claim from Romano makes it appear as though everything is on track.

Pending a formal announcement, it looks like all systems go.

The right winger we need?

Long term there is hope Amad Diallo can be the right winger United have been missing for several seasons.

Realistically it may take a couple of seasons for Diallo to fulfil his potential.

He has just five appearances for Atalanta in his career, all of them as a substitute.

So if he is able to contribute right away it would be a massive bonus; but not one we should expect.

Yet with United moving into position for a possible title charge, hopes are high that Diallo could play a small role in title number 21.

First off he will probably have to prove himself for the under-23s like Facundo Pellistri has had to.

It’s possible if he does, that a Europa League appearance could follow in February.

Fans react positively to update

Aside from his two substitute appearances for Atalanta this season, Romano’s update is the first substantial piece of news regarding the winger since his move was announced.

Diallo is a signing who is generating real intrigue and excitement, due to the way he plays. He is an exciting attacker who runs with the ball, takes players on, and has an eye for goal.

It’s raw talent at the moment. He has to harness it, and United’s coaching staff will work with him to help.
