Manchester United could be drawn against Antony in the Champions League in 2026/27.

It is now official that La Liga will receive a fifth Champions League place for next season. They join the Premier League in landing an extra place, due to the league’s strong UEFA ranking.

The beneficiaries look likely to be Real Betis, who are fifth in La Liga with a six point advantage over sixth place Celta.

This could set up a possible clash between Betis and Manchester United in the group stage, and an Antony reunion.

United sold Antony to Betis in summer 2025, after a successful loan spell.

This season Antony has scored 13 goals and providing nine assists for Betis next season, including Europa League games.

This past week Antony blamed off-field problems for contributing to his disappointing spell with Manchester United.

What are your thoughts on the ‘fights’ between Tchouameni and Valverde… does this present an opportunity for United? Or is this a bad omen for a transfer?

Six Premier League places are possible

There could now be six Premier League clubs in the Champions League next season.

If Aston Villa win the Europa League Final against Freiburg on May 20, then the sixth place team in the Premier League will gain entry.

Even with this safety net, Chelsea could still miss out. Bournemouth, Brentford and Brighton are all better positioned in the Premier League table.
