Two Manchester United players have been named in the BBC Sport Team of the Week after the victory over Fulham.

United beat Fulham 3-1 in the FA Cup quarter-final after a hard earned win at Old Trafford.

The match will be remembered for a second half Fulham meltdown, with their manager and two players sent off.

Despite this, United did enough to eventually run out convincing winners, fighting back into the game and creating their won luck.

Two United players praised

Two Manchester United players were named in the BBC Team of the Week, selected by pundit Garth Crooks.

He picked out Bruno Fernandes and Lisandro Martinez for their displays in the quarter-final win.

Discussing Fernandes, he said: “Big-time players step up to the mark when games get interesting and they didn’t come more interesting that when Fulham had two players sent off.”

Fernandes took his tally for the season to 10 goals with his brace against Fulham, with Marcel Sabitzer also on the scoresheet.

Crooks praised Martinez, lauding his controlled performance in United’s defence.

He said: “I didn’t think I would be picking a Manchester United defender so soon after their mauling at Liverpool. However, United have bounced back from that humiliation and Martinez in particular.

“The defender hasn’t lost his nerve and against Fulham, when the game was on the verge of spiralling out of control, showed focus and enough constraint to help United turn the game in their favour.”

Martinez is now heading off on international duty with Argentina and Fernandes with Portugal.

Manchester United’s next game is on April 2 away at Newcastle in the Premier League.
