Manchester United and England star Harry Maguire is a player transformed, according to one of his high-profile detractors.
Harry Maguire has had a tumultuous four years at Manchester United, captaining the club, winning a trophy, and also being reduced to a viral laughing stock in the process too.
Clips of his mistakes lit up social media, with Maguire getting the full ‘Phil Jones‘ treatment, and there was nothing more bizarre than the defender being mocked in Ghana’s parliament, which was even reported by Sky News.
At the time, Ghanaian MP Isaac Adongo called out political opponent Dr Mahamadu Bawumia as the country’s ‘Economic Maguire’, in an exchange also reported by Ghana Web.

Adongo apologises to Maguire
In fresh comments the the parliament, Adongo has apologised to Maguire, for comparing him to his political adversary.
In a clip now doing the rounds on social media, Adongo says: “I will now apologise to Harry Maguire.
“Today, Maguire has turned the corner and is a transformational footballer. Maguire is now scoring goals for Manchester United.
“Mr Speaker, Harry Maguire is now a key player for Manchester United.”
Harry Maguire will be breathing a sigh of relief, we are sure. The centre-back has re-established himself as a first choice centre-back for Manchester United, and scored the winner at home to Copenhagen in a Champions League clash earlier this year.
He has been praised by the press for his attitude and performances on the pitch, winning over Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, and supporters too.
Harry Maguire responds to apology
Harry Maguire has shown a good sense of humour about Adongo’s apology, responding to the clip on social media.
He wrote: “MP Isaac Adongo apology accepted. See you at Old Trafford soon.”
‘Economic Maguire’
It is almost a full year since Maguire was torn apart by Adongo, when he launched his now famous ‘economic Maguire’ rant.
Adongo said at the time: “There was a player in the United Kingdom in England called Maguire who is playing for Manchester United, Harry Maguire, is a defender.
“He became the biggest threat at Manchester United’s defence, tackling Manchester players, and giving assists to opponents.
“Mr Speaker, even when the opponents failed to score, Maguire would score for them.
“Mr Speaker you remember in this country we also have an economic Maguire.
“Mr Speaker, when we gave this Maguire the opportunity to be at the centre of our defence, he became the risk of our own goal.”
