Tottenham receive injury boost ahead of United clash which could be bad news for Rasmus Hojlund

Tottenham Hotspur have received a big boost ahead of their clash against Manchester United, which could be concerning for Rasmus Hojlund.

Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United head into the game against Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur needing a win at all costs to stop their slide down the Premier League table.

A 2-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest in their last game in the league piled the pressure on the Dutch manager who has lost 14 games in all competitions this season.

Spurs have had an inconsistent few weeks but, similarly to United, they have had a multitude of injury problems but will have one key man back for Sunday’s vital clash at Old Trafford.

Spurs welcome key man back

A win for the Red Devils is vital otherwise you wonder how much longer the former Ajax boss will have at Old Trafford to turn things around.

United’s job will not be made any easier as Spurs defender Micky Van de Ven, who has been out of the first-team picture since injuring his hamstring against Chelsea in November, is now back fit for the game.

“I’m really happy to be back,” he told the official Spurs website. “It’s always a good feeling to be back with the squad and be on the bench. Next week a big game is coming so hopefully I’ll get some minutes over there.

“I’m feeling fit, I have no pain anymore, so I think I’m ready. It’s long, it was like 10 weeks I’ve been out, it’s frustrating when you have to watch from the sidelines.”

Not only will this be a boost for Spurs but this could also be a concern for struggling United forward Rasmus Hojlund.

Hojlund will need to be on his A-game

Unlike during the game against Wigan Athletic where Hojlund had ample opportunity to find the back of the net, you would expect the Danish striker to have limited chances during the mouthwatering encounter.

The Dutch defender is known for his speed, so the former Atalanta striker may well struggle to deal with the pace and physicality on offer from the former VFL Wolfsburg defender.

Hojlund will have to bring his A-game and show the sort of quality which was on full display during the topsy-turvy 3-2 win over Unai Emery’s Aston Villa on Boxing day.
