Manchester United have announced the USA tour squad, with a high number of young players included.
Staff and players from Manchester United are on their way to Los Angeles as the pre-season tour begins.
Manchester United have announced a 29-man squad, which is missing many major players who are on a FIFA-mandated rest period after Euro 2024 and the Copa America.
This means there is a big chance for a high number of United youngsters, who make the trip. But not all of them have made the cut.
Joe Hugill is set to leave on loan, while others have just missed out purely down to the limited squad space. Here are three who are unlucky not to feature…

Habeeb Ogunneye
Young right-back Habeeb Ogunneye will be very disappointed not to make the cut. He featured on the bench for United’s first team last season several times.
Ogunneye played 45 minutes in both friendly games so far, and has looked to be striking up a friendship with Amad behind the scenes.
There is only one recognised right-back in the squad, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who has an uncertain future, with Diogo Dalot not yet back. This would have been a chance for Ogunneye to impress.
We don’t know if his absence is related to loan, injury, or simply not being selected. But either way, he will be unfortunate to miss out.
Ethan Williams
Ethan Williams started Manchester United’s first match of pre-season against Rosenborg as part of a three-man attack. Now he misses out on the tour squad.
Williams remains a highly-rated prospect who scored 17 goals at academy level last season and has a lot to offer, but this tour may have come just too soon for him.
He must use this as motivation to kick on, while as with Ogunneye, the exact reason for his absence is unconfirmed.
Ethan Ennis
Ethan Ennis was one of Manchester United’s brightest performers in the second half against Rosenborg. But he always faced an uphill task to make the squad.
Ennis remains a bright talent who signed a new contract extension just earlier this week, showing the club retain high hopes for him.
The former Liverpool talent suffered an ACL injury in 2022, and after returning to playing last season, he will be looking to make up for lost time in 2024/25.
The early signs from his pre-season appearances are positive, but missing out on the tour will be a disappointment.
