Manchester United fixtures for the 2023/24 season have been announced. Here is a look at three things which caught our eye…
Monday night start
Manchester United fans have to wait longer than everybody else to start the Premier League season, as our first game of the season is on Monday August 14.
The positive is this means United can’t ruin a sunny August weekend, like last season. This is the first time United kick off on a Monday night since 2012.
That game saw United lose 1-0 to Everton – before going on to win the Premier League title.
United face Wolves at home, which is a pretty good fixture to start. United beat Wolves 2-0 at Molineux at the end of last season.
A little bit of extra preparation time should help Erik ten Hag‘s side. It is going to be one to look forward to.

Big away test early
Manchester United’s Achilles heel last season was the team’s away form against teams in the top half of the table. Erik ten Hag has to fix it.
He will be put to the test early, with United visiting Tottenham in the second game, and then away at Arsenal on September 2.
Two big away games in the first four fixtures will be challenging, and is an opportunity to try and record an important win early on.
The game against Tottenham will focus on Harry Kane, who looks set to stay at Spurs. This is a chance to make him regret not pushing for a transfer.
The match at Arsenal is a great opportunity to lay a marker down early. The Gunners will be competitors at the top of the table and this is a big ‘six-pointer’.
Tough December includes Anfield
United’s tough games are fairly well spread out – until December, which will pose a real challenge to Erik ten Hag’s side.
Manchester United begin the month away to Newcastle, then host Chelsea and Bournemouth, before visiting Anfield.
The game away at Liverpool is scheduled for exactly five years to the day since United lost in 2018, a game which preceded Jose Mourinho‘s sacking.
United will be desperate to avenge last year’s humiliation at the ground – but there are more tricky fixtures to come too.
This game is followed up by an away game against West Ham, before Aston Villa at home on Boxing Day and an away trip to Nottingham Forest.
If Manchester United can come out of December in good shape, we will know this team is serious about what can be achieved in 2024.
