Three Manchester United players have been named in the BBC team of the week following the win over Nottingham Forest.

Manchester United took a big step forward in the race for a top four place with a victory over Nottingham Forest.

United now have a six point gap over fifth placed Spurs and a game in hand. It’s looking good.

Antony and Diogo Dalot scored the goals, with the Portuguese defender playing in a less familiar left-back role.

Manchester United players praised

BBC pundit Garth Crooks picked three Manchester United players in his team of the week, and left out Antony, who scored one and provided an assist.

Crooks picked David de Gea, Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes in his XI. No other club had three players included.

He even had a big statement over De Gea’s future, commenting that the goalkeeper, “should now be the Manchester United club captain – he’s earned it.”

On Dalot he added: “Dalot was outstanding in defence and always supportive in attack and took his goal like a seasoned striker.”

He praised Fernandes as among the best midfielders in the country, and while also commending Christian Eriksen, he said the number 8, “was the standout midfield player against Nottingham Forest.”

Fernandes was named by Gary Neville as his man of the match. He created six goalscoring chances and has really hit form over the past few weeks.

He will have a key role in the FA Cup semi-final against Brighton, but is suspended for the tie against Sevilla in midweek.
