Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Mason Mount is back in training as the Manchester United summer signing looks to speed up his return to fitness for the Premier League giants.
On a day in which it was announced that Tyrell Malacia would have to wait until 2024 to make his return from a long-term injury, the Manchester United boss had some much better news regarding another of the Red Devils’ walking wounded.
With Mason Mount back in outdoor training, per the Manchester Evening News, there is suddenly a little more room to breath in a treatment room which is starting to resemble a London underground train carriage in rush hour.

Mason Mount ‘returning’ for Manchester United
“First, we go back into Premier League,” Ten Hag says ahead of Saturday’s trip to Newcastle. “There are players on the way back, but I can’t give a prognosis on how long it will take.
“Mason Mount today is returning on the pitch. But I don’t know how long it will take, in this moment.”
The £55 million England international has endured a frustrating time since his summer move from Chelsea. Mount has started only seven games in all competitions and, even when fit, struggled to force his way into Ten Hag’s first XI.
His return, however, feels particularly well-timed ahead of a typically bruising festive fixture schedule. Especially with fellow midfielders Christian Eriksen and Casemiro not expectedback imminently.
Kobbie Mainoo, the 18-year-old Carrington graduate, is one of those who has stepped up during United’s seemingly never-ending injury crisis, however, producing a standout display in Mount’s absence in last weekend’s 3-0 win at Everton.
Erik ten Hag’s side travel to Newcastle
“He showed on Sunday he was ready,” Ten Hag says of Mainoo, who’s supreme composure and excellent passing range could come in very handy against an intense, furious Newcastle outfit.
“We have more than 11 players, we have good options there).
“His scanning (impresses me). It looks like he always has time because he is scanning, he is running free, he is scanning to see the options and make the right decisions. He can delay, can speed up, he makes the right decisions.”
