Manchester United youngster Teden Mengi could be about to receive the career relaunch offer he has been waiting for.
Teden Mengi was once regarded as Manchester United’s brightest defensive prospect. He made his first team debut in 2020 in the Europa League against LASK, and looked set for a strong career.
Former boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer even compared him to Matthijs de Ligt, and he even got to train with the England senior squad.
But like so many players, young and old, Mengi’s promising career has been derailed by injuries.

Teden Mengi bad luck
Teden Mengi has not had a smooth run lately. He was sent on loan to Derby County in the Championship three years ago and saw that stint cut short by injury.
Another spell in the Championship followed at Birmingham City, which was once again hit by hamstring injuries.
This saw him miss out on pre-season under Erik ten Hag in 2022, before a surprise opportunity game in the winter friendly matches in Spain.
MORE UNITED STORIES
Mengi was stretchered off against Cadiz after just 15 minutes with another hamstring injury and only just recovered in time to play an under-21 game in May.
The centre-back is currently fit, he just has not been around the first team this summer. He has instead played for the under-21s in friendly matches against Gainsborough and Chester.
Loan move opportunity
Last season Mengi was not fit for either transfer window and could not move away on loan. This time he has an offer to consider, from French side Amiens.
French outlet Le11Amienois, also reported by Fabrizio Romano, claim talks are ongoing for Mengi to sign on loan for the season with the club.
Amiens are in Ligue 2 after being relegated last season from Ligue 1 and aim to bounce straight back. It is an interesting level for Mengi, where it may be a little less intense than the Championship, with fewer games, and may put less demands on him from a fitness perspective, which is what he needs to rebuild.
Still only 21, Mengi is a real talent who has captained United through academy level. He needs a bit of good fortune, and this could be the offer he has been waiting for to relaunch his career.
