Tchouameni tweet on Real Madrid game could be a blow for Manchester United hopes

Manchester United have high hopes of landing in-demand midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni this summer.

A report from ESPN claimed Tchouameni is on Erik ten Hag’s wishlist.

But it won’t be straightforward to sign him. There is heavy competition from Real Madrid, whose interest is referenced in the same report.

And the Spanish side seem to have caught his eye, after Tuesday night’s Champions League semi-final.

Your Club's SURPRISE Star This Season

Tchouameni took to Twitter after watching Real Madrid battle Manchester City in the Champions League semi-final first leg at The Etihad.

City won 4-3, with Real cutting a two goal deficit three times to stay in the tie, with Tchouameni’s France teammate Karim Benzema scoring twice.

And he was very impressed, taking to Twitter to commend the brilliance on display.

Tchouameni is in demand, and in a straight contest between United and Real Madrid, well it’s an easy choice for him, and sadly it wouldn’t go in our favour on current form.

Real are set to win La Liga, while United are plummeting like a stone in the Premier League, and won’t have Champions League football next season.

United may even drop to seventh and face the humiliation of being in the Europa Conference League.

This would not help attract Tchouameni.

The midfielder would be a perfect for United, and he should have been targeted last summer or in January.

The one ray of hope is if Monaco head of recruitment Paul Mitchell heads to United, Tchouameni van be convinced to come with him.

But with France international Paul Pogba enduring a torrid time at Old Trafford, Tchouameni may opt against replacing him, even though he would be a far better fit than the former Juventus man ever was.

A move is still possible, but Tchouameni is a player capable of playing at Champions League level next season. If the chance comes with Real, he will probably take it.
