Manchester United are in crisis mode – and people are beginning to question the players.
The first-team squad looks abysmal this year. There’s a lack of goal threat, instability in defence and a lack of leadership. It’s all over the place.
This comes after spending a bucketload on players in the summer, whilst also getting rid of what the manager thought was ‘deadwood’.
We could really do with one of these players right about now.
Manchester United could do with Fred
One player we believe Manchester United regret selling is Fred.
United parted ways with the Brazilian for just £12.9m this summer. Now, despite having an influx of midfielders, we really are missing his qualities.
Carl Anka, speaking on the latest Talk of the Devils podcast, agrees.
“We joked about it in earlier episodes about how we miss Fred, but now you’re looking at a team and going Fred would genuinely improve this,” Carl begins.
“We have seven central midfielders, but Fred genuinely offers something that none of them have.”
Andy Mitten wonders if he’s on the wind up: “Do you actually think that?” he asks.
“Yeah,” Carl replies. “United need legs in midfield and someone who can pass from deep. They also need someone who can make a tackle, win the ball back and not get booked in the first 25 minutes.”
A sly dig at Hannibal Mejbri and Casemiro who both set themselves up for a bad night with early bookings.
Fred now thriving elsewhere
Unfortunately for United, it seems that Fred is more than happy with his new life in Turkey.
The midfielder is an integral part of the deemed the ‘best team in Europe‘, who have now bettered themselves even more by winning their opening 20 games. Remarkable.
