Manchester United are navigating the midfield target after walking away from two primary targets, with Bournemouth’s Alex Scott emerging as another option to bolster Michael Carrick’s midfield.
The transfer window is heating up, but Manchester United have yet to complete any deals, although an agreement to sign Ederson from Atalanta was reached before the midfielder received a late call-up to the Brazil squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Ederson is expected to be confirmed as a United player once he completes his medical examination and signs on the dotted line.
United fans are eager to learn which midfielders will be following the Brazil international to Old Trafford this summer.

Man Utd will be wary of Bournemouth’s demands for Alex Scott
United need a Casemiro replacement and greater overall midfield depth as they return to the Champions League and hope to compete for the Premier League title.
After walking away from deals for Elliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes, United have shown that they will not allow other Premier League clubs to pull the wool over their eyes by overspending in the transfer market.
United will be wary of the impact Anderson’s £116m transfer to Man City will have on the market, or Tottenham’s £85m deal for Fernandes. There is no value in the market, and it would be naive to think Bournemouth won’t want a slice of the same cake.
Bournemouth’s assistant manager Steve Fletcher was asked about the Cherries losing key players like Scott this summer, when he told talkSPORT’s Hawksbee and Jacobs Daily.
“Listen, it’s the nature of the beast.”
“It’s just one of those things at a club like ourselves that when your players play well and your best players are performing, and like we’ve seen it, like I said, with Antoine Semenu and the rest, it’s going to attract attention of the big teams, of course it is. And you can’t stop that.
“I mean, it doesn’t matter if it’s us, Brighton, Palace, Fulham, teams of that magnitude when the big boys come calling. And they show interest, of course, that goes worldwide. And we have had players like Alex Scott, who were phenomenal last season, Adrian Truffert, the left back, Junior Kroupi, especially being a young lad.
“Obviously, Rayan coming in in January and hitting the ground running. It’s going to bring attention. And I think you just got to deal with it.”
“It’s life. It’s just one of those things. And as long as we recruit well, if we do lose those players, you know, we just keep the keep the wheel turning.
“But it’s tough because you want the young players to do well and go and achieve everything they have in their dreams. And they want to play for the biggest teams in Europe. Of course, they do.
“Do we want to lose our best players? No. Do the fans want to see them go? Of course not.
“But when you’ve got young teenage lads performing phenomenally well and finishing the top six of Premier League football in the most competitive league in the world, it’s going to draw attention from everyone around Europe, around the world. So like I say, you’ve just got to deal with it.
“And when it comes around, have something ready for when it does. And yeah, Alex Scott’s grabbing a lot of attention. Of course he is.
“And he was magnificent last season, especially the latter part. He was dominating games. We were going away to Arsenal and he was the best player on the pitch, best player on the pitch at Man United.
“It’s when you got a young lad who’s basically his first season where he’s playing regularly at Bournemouth. It’s going to grab the attention of everyone around the world, so you can’t help that.”
Bournemouth signed Scott as a teenager from Bristol City for £25m in 2023, and he has since developed into one of the best young midfielders in the Premier League.
