Manchester United’s summer transfer window began with a top target snubbing a move to Old Trafford.
The top priority this summer was to overhaul the attacking options available in Ruben Amorim’s squad.
Ineos acted quickly and signed Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko to bring an entirely new front three to Old Trafford and the trio have hit the ground running this season.
But before the Sesko deal was pushed through, United wanted to sign Liam Delap following his relegation at Ipswich Town.
However, Delap turned United down in favour of joining Premier League rivals Chelsea instead in a £30 million deal.

Liam Delap disaster continues with Chelsea red card
Delap had doubts over United so decided against moving to Old Trafford, but his move to Chelsea has been nothing short of a disaster. He has only made three Premier League appearances and is yet to complete a full 90-minute match after struggling with injury.
Chelsea beat Wolves 4-3 in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening and Liam Delap made his return as a second-half substitute.
However, Delap picked up two yellow cards within 25 minutes and was sent off at Molineux. What was meant to be his grand return ended in a complete nightmare for the 22-year-old.
Delap will now be unavailable for Chelsea’s next Premier League match against Tottenham.
After the full-time whistle, Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca labelled Delap “embarrassing” for getting sent off.
“A stupid foul. He deserved that. I can understand the red cards against Brighton and United, but against Nottingham and today, we can avoid that,” Maresca said, as quoted by FootballLondon.
“It’s embarrassing when it’s a red card like today. Two yellow cards in seven minutes. We can avoid both. It’s not good.”
Delap might regret snubbing United given that the Red Devils are now above Chelsea in the Premier League table. However, from United’s perspective, it has been a blessing in disguise.
Man United dodged Liam Delap mistake
In hindsight, Ineos will be over the moon that the Delap deal fell through.
United beat several clubs to Sesko’s signature, and the 22-year-old has made a strong first impression in Manchester.
Sesko is a major upgrade on Rasmus Hojlund, and he is already enjoying a better season than Delap at Chelsea.

While Delap has missed most of the season with injury issues, Sesko boasts an incredible injury record and has been available to Amorim whenever needed.
Ineos wanted Delap to be United’s striker for the next decade, but Sesko is proving to be the better option.
