Manchester United allowed Eric Bailly to leave the club on a free transfer earlier this month.

After a summer on the sidelines, Eric Bailly clinched a move to Turkish side Besiktas.

The centre-back made his debut last night in a Europa Conference League game against Club Brugges.

And according to Turkish newspaper Hurriyet, he earned rave reviews from supporters, who hailed his ‘quality’ display.

Eric Bailly makes Besiktas debut

Last night Eric Bailly made his debut for Besiktas in a 1-1 draw against Club Brugges, playing 84 minutes.

His side were trailing 1-0 before former Everton striker Cenk Tosun netted a 88th minute equaliser.

Bailly made two blocks, two clearances and one interception, winning six duels in a typically committed display, in which he threw himself into tackles and didn’t hold back.

Hurriyet reported that Bailly “received full marks from the fans in his first match with the black and white jersey.”

Eric Bailly shakes off injury

Eric Bailly had not got off to the best start for Besiktas last week. He suffered an injury during a friendly game which saw him fail to complete the first half.

It was a predictable way for him to begin, after an injury-plagued few seasons at Manchester United, and on loan at Marseille last season.

For now, he is fully fit and came through the game last night, although there was, typically, a moment where he went down in pain and had to be attended to by medical staff. So his return doesn’t mean he will stay healthy, but last night was certainly a big step in the right direction.
