Opponent asked to swap Casemiro’s shirt during Manchester United game

Casemiro returns to action for Manchester United. We can’t wait to see him back.

It has been a long time since Casemiro last wore the Manchester United shirt in the away tie against Real Betis last month.

His red card against Southampton in early March sparked a four-game ban. We have all been counting down the days until his return.

Now the ban has been served. Casemiro returns to action tonight against Sevilla, and domestically he can face Nottingham Forest this weekend.

Everybody respects Casemiro

Casemiro is a five times Champions League winner, the captain of Brazil, and was voted into the FIFPro XI earlier this year.

Now, he is being asked to swap shirts mid-game by opponents, The Guardian report.

The paper claim Southampton star Carlos Alcaraz asked to swap shirts during Manchester United’s draw with the Saints last month.

It was a cordial exchange, full of respect, even if, a little oddly, it took place mid-game rather than after the match.

Then the unthinkable happened. Casemiro was shown a red card just ‘minutes’ later – for a challenge on Carlos Alcaraz.

The midfielder’s mistimed challenge saw him touch the ball but take Alcaraz with him, and even though, as reported, Alcaraz ‘offered consolation’, it did not change the red card.

It is unclear whether 20-year-old Alcaraz ever got his shirt, whether Casemiro was too disconsolate with the sending off, to oblige.

There will be respect from Sevilla towards Casemiro tonight, a player who has starred against the La Liga side on 15 previous occasions.

But don’t bet on them offering to swap shirts mid-game. Unless they are trying to distract him.
