A number of players have just received new numbers for Manchester United this morning.

There was an influx of incoming at Old Trafford on deadline day. United made four new signings – Jonny Evans, Altay Bayindir, Sergio Reguilon and, best of all, Sofyan Amrabat.

The massively busy final day was essential for Erik ten Hag‘s side, given the slow start to the season combined with a plethora of injuries early on.

New faces, means new numbers – with five having been revealed to us today.

Five new Manchester United squad numbers revealed

Manchester United today confirmed five new squad numbers for the following players:

The big ones to note here are Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund.

Garnacho has had a strange summer in regard to what his number may be. Initially, it looked nailed on that the number seven shirt would be presented to the Argentine – however, that was given to Mason Mount.

The winger has opted for Fred’s old number instead, which does suit him nicely on the wing.

As for Hojlund, he has the number 11. The Danish forward would have probably wanted number nine, but that’s currently taken by Anthony Martial. We should see this change in future.

Sofyan Amrabat’s new number

This all but confirms Sofyan Amrabat‘s new number, which will likely be four.

The reasons behind this are pretty concrete. Four is always a squad number set to be filled by a club and after the departure of Phil Jones this summer – the position is now vacant.

For his former club Fiorentina, the Moroccan also wore this number four – as he does for his country.

We’d say that it’s nailed on for Amrabat to take this. Expect an announcement in the coming days.
