‘So chilled out’… Manchester United star praised after performance v Luton, two pundits pick him MOTM

Manchester United youngster Kobbie Mainoo keeps on impressing every chance he gets.

Kobbie Mainoo has established himself as a player who Manchester United can rely on, and manager Erik ten Hag knows it.

Mainoo was impressive in Manchester United’s victory at Luton, helping the team to grind out a 2-1 victory.

During the game former Premier League man Ian Wright used X to demand Mainoo features in the next England squad.

Kobbie Mainoo praised

The plaudits for the young midfielder kept on coming. Former Manchester United prospect Luke Chadwick lauded Kobbie Mainoo’s composure, a key trait of his game.

He told MUTV: “It was fast and furious out there, Kobbie’s so chilled out on the ball.

“The way he manipulated it, he’s been fantastic.”

The studio pundits both selected Mainoo as their chosen man of the match.

When asked to choose, Quinton Fortune replied instantly: “Kobbie, he was just so calm.”

It was a view shared by Danny Webber, who responded: “I was going to say the same, Kobbie. Overall he had a little more influence [than Hojlund], in the first half there was a few times the ball was pinging around and he was so composed.”

Kobbie Mainoo is a real find

At one stage or another, Manchester United will need to give Kobbie Mainoo a break. But right now he is absolutely integral to the team.

Mainoo provides balance to Manchester United’s midfield, able to play in both phases of the game, contributing in attack and defence.

He was booked in the second half, unfairly, for a tackle where he clearly won the ball. But he was able to complete the game with no issues.

Mainoo’s emergence has played a key part in Manchester United’s form turning around. He is doing everything fans hoped he would be able to, and more.

There has been a lot of talent coming through the club’s academy in recent years, but Mainoo might be the pick of the bunch. At just 18, he already looks the real deal.
