Rasmus Hojlund came agonisingly close to grabbing his first Premier League goal on Saturday against Sheffield. But despite the goal not coming, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was encouraged.
Manchester United again managed to drag themselves to a win in the Premier League, after a poor performance was turned into a 2-1 win over Sheffield United.
However, if Rasmus Hojlund had converted his opportunities, the game would’ve been perceived in a very different way.
Two big chances missed – according to SofaScore – for the Danish striker saw him painfully close to opening his Premier League account.
Despite missing some chances, Sky Sports pundit Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink believes that the goal is coming.
Hassekbaink praises Hojlund
United’s striker was named in the Golden Boy Top 20 recently but is yet to score for United in a domestic competition.
Speaking at half-time on Sky Sports, Hasselbaink insisted the goal is close after positive signs.
“He looks sharp, he was unlucky here… it’s coming for him, it’s coming his first Premier League goal.”
Hojlund looked most likely for United in the first half with various chances going amiss before he was substituted in the 63rd minute.
A poor performance but plenty to be excited by
Hojlund had one of his poorest outings for United at Bramall Lane on Saturday.
But despite this, the signs are there that eventually, he is going to be a brilliant striker.
Always in the right position, it is a matter of time until he starts putting the ball into the net.
For example, he was inches away from converting Marcus Rashford’s cross in the first half and was also denied by a brilliant Wesley Foderingham save.
Important to stick by Hojlund as he will be a success and as the team improves, so will he.
