Sir Jim Ratcliffe has named his dream Manchester United signing, but unfortunately, it can not happen.
Manchester United are still basking in the glow of a remarkable 4-3 victory over Liverpool on Sunday in the FA Cup.
Erik ten Hag’s side twice fought back from behind and won the match in the final seconds of extra time through Amad’s dramatic winner.
It’s been the best result of the new era at Old Trafford so far after Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos Group officially purchased 27.7 per cent of the club’s Class A shares last month.
Ratcliffe has now assumed control of football operations at the club and is busy making boardroom appointments that will hopefully revitalise United.
Once the transfer window opens, there will likely be a lot of transfer activity as well to try and make some big improvements on the pitch.
Sadly, Ratcliffe’s dream signing is impossible.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s dream Manchester United signing
When asked on the Geraint Thomas Cycling Club which United legend he’d love to have in his prime today, Ratcliffe quickly answered: “Paul Scholes I’d bring in.
“That’s the player that is most missing.
“They are not Roy Keane but they have Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo, they are more defensive.
“They don’t have a Scholes, an (Anders) Iniesta.”
United’s top transfer priority confirmed?
Ratcliffe may well have just confirmed United’s top priority this coming summer, a quality midfielder capable of controlling games with great passing which is ‘most missing’ from the squad.
Ten Hag has spent millions on his midfield since taking over the club having signed Casemiro, Mason Mount, Christian Eriksen and Sofyan Amrabat so far.
Yet, none of them have been able to fulfil the role the manager wants in the middle of the park, with United completely incapable of dictating the tempo of matches.
It’s no wonder Ten Hag has wanted to sign Frenkie de Jong so badly and it wouldn’t at all be surprising if another summer of speculation regarding the Barcelona man was in store.
If United ever want to play the football Ten Hag was capable of at Ajax, then they need a midfielder with his and Scholes’ qualities.
