After meeting with the players and staff at Manchester United, the first feelings about Sir Jim Ratcliffe have been revealed, according to reports.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos finally announced that an agreement had been reached over the 25 per cent acquisition of Manchester United and since then it has been a waiting game.

The Premier League’s regulatory approval can take up to 4-6 weeks before being approved which means that it is likely that Ineos will have no say in this January transfer window.

Despite this, Ineos and Ratcliffe have met with players and staff members at Old Trafford and their initial feelings over the 71-year-old have been explained.

Ratcliffe meeting outcome

According to a report from The Sun, the meeting between the billionaire and staff members has been described as ‘positive’.

A spokesperson from United reportedly told The Sun: “It’s no secret that Sir Jim and Sir Dave have been in town for a couple of days.

“On this occasion, they were at the training ground and it was all about getting to know you. Sir Jim also met the staff as well as the women’s team and the whole outcome was very positive.”

This news of positive talks will be a relief for Erik ten Hag who is certainly under fire following the club’s 14th defeat of the season against Nottingham Forest.

Positive talks could spell bad news for Potter

The news of positive talks between Ten Hag and Ratcliffe could well spell bad news for Graham Potter, who has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Potter, who was most recently in charge of Chelsea, was linked with a move to Old Trafford by The Sun back on the 13th of December. ESPN reported yesterday that Ineos were sounding out Potter’s availability if they did decide to dismiss the Dutchman after a torrid season.

This, however, would be an appalling decision following the Englishman’s struggles at a club like Chelsea. With the toxic nature of United, the former Brighton & Hove Albion coach may not even last a month in Manchester.

Any talk of Potter coming in should be shut down and with the meetings reportedly ending in a ‘positive’ manner, this will be a big boost for Ten Hag.
