Sir Alex Ferguson had a long-lasting impact on one Manchester United legend during his time as a manager and even after the player retired from football.
The legendary former Manchester United manager called it time on his remarkable career in management in 2013 after 26 years in charge at Old Trafford.
Sir Alex Ferguson engineered all 13 of United’s 13 Premier League titles and led the Red Devils to their last league trophy at the end of the 2012-13 campaign.
The 82-year-old iconic Scotsman wrote his name into the history books with his managerial career in England with United and in Scotland with Aberdeen.
Ferguson was the first manager in history to lead an English team to a continental treble, with United achieving the feat in their famous 1998-99 campaign.
The United legend, who is widely regarded as one of the best managers of all time, managed a roster of star-studded talent during his time at Old Trafford.

Man Utd legend looked ‘scared’ of Ferguson
Sir Alex Ferguson’s success during the 1990s included the emergence of several Manchester United legends from the ‘Class of ‘92.’
Nicky Butt, David Beckham, Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville, Paul Scholes and Phil Neville all came through the youth academy and broke into the first team under Ferguson.
David Beckham shot to superstardom during his prolific playing career at Old Trafford and the 49-year-old legend enjoyed incredible success at United.
The former United and Real Madrid superstar lifted six Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy and two FA Cups with the Red Devils.
The David Beckham: For the Love of the Game documentary debuted on BBC in 2015 and showed the United legend heading to all seven continents to play a match.
During the documentary, the former England captain was spotted alongside Ferguson at Old Trafford and was chatting with the former United manager.
Speaking at a Q&A session, Beckham admitted that he looked “really scared” when he watched back the film and saw his interaction with Ferguson.
“He does make me nervous. It’s respect with the manager and it always has been,” he said, as per The Independent in 2015.
Beckham on Ferguson’s lasting impact
David Beckham recalled one instance after his retirement where he would make sure his wine was out of sight from Ferguson.
The former Three Lions superstar admitted that the former United players wouldn’t drink in front of Ferguson, including during the 1999 treble win.
“Even recently I was at an event where he was sat on the table behind me and I had a glass of wine,” Beckham added.
“Notoriously we would never drink in front of the manager, even when he walked into the room when we had just won the European Cup [in 1999] you would see me, Scholesy, Butty, Giggsy, all move our drinks under the table.
“So, it was the same at the event the other day. He was sat on the table behind me and I was putting my glass of wine directly in front of me so he wouldn’t see. He has that effect over us.”
