Sir Alex Ferguson’s four-word reaction to Man Utd star whose ‘idol’ is Cristiano Ronaldo, it’s brilliant

Manchester United Women star Ella Toone has opened up on what happened with Sir Alex Ferguson after the former Red Devils boss noticed she was late to her seat.

Ferguson, whose reaction to United’s historic treble win was recently revealed, has often been spotted in the Old Trafford crowd after his retirement in 2013.

The Scot was in attendance for United’s superb 2-1 win over Chelsea earlier this month, with a Scott McTominay brace sealing all three points for the Red Devils.

Ferguson was shown during the live broadcast from the Premier League clash at Old Trafford and eagle-eyed fans also spotted that Toone was sat right in front of him.

However, United fans were also unaware that the legendary 81-year-old ex-manager hilariously told off Toone after she arrived back to her seat late for the second half.

Toone reveals what Ferguson told her during United vs Chelsea

According to The Daily Mail, United Women midfielder Toone and Ferguson ‘chatted about all things United’ before she received a first-hand experience of ‘Fergie time.’

The 24-year-old England Women international returned to the United directors’ box late after half-time and was met with Ferguson ‘pointing at his watch.’

Toone, who lifted the Women’s Euro title with England Women in 2022, has now admitted that she had a “little telling off” by Ferguson in a hilarious exchange.

“I came out late for the second half and he said, ‘You’re late Mrs Toone!’ So, I got a little telling off for being late,” she told the newspaper.

“My phone blew up so I knew that we’d been caught on telly ’cause usually it pans to Sir Alex.

“He’s such a nice guy and we had a nice little chat as well.”

Toone talks influence of United legend Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo, who is one of Ferguson’s most influential United signings of all time, has also had an important impact on United Women star Toone.

The 38-year-old Portuguese superstar announced himself on the world stage at United and enjoyed a prolific first spell at Old Trafford under Ferguson.

However, Ronaldo’s second run at United is not remembered as fondly as his first and the United legend left the club in 2022 and went on to sign for Al Nassr in 2023.

Toone has launched her own brand called ‘ET7,’ a fitting homage to Ronaldo’s ‘CR7’ brand, and even wants to open up a female-focused football academy in 2024.

“I’ve always wanted to have my own brand and academy,” she said.

“My idol was Cristiano Ronaldo and his brand is CR7. I wore every boot that he brought out.

“I remember sitting at the table and drawing out Cristiano Ronaldo’s logo and hopefully little girls are sat at the table drawing out the ET7 logo.

“It’s nice to try and use my platform as best as I can to inspire young girls and boys.

“The academy side of things is something that I hold really close to my heart. I really like giving back to the grassroots and where I started and making sure that young girls and boys have opportunities to start their journey.”
