Sir Alex Ferguson attempted everything in his power to convince a former Arsenal star to sign for Manchester United and even invited the player to the training complex.
The former Manchester United manager was known for bringing the best in class to Old Trafford, with Sir Alex Ferguson having an incredible sway with transfers.
Despite managing to lure a roster of star-studded talent to the Premier League club, even Ferguson saw the highs and lows when it came to transfers in the window.
The 82-year-old made marquee signings like Cristiano Ronaldo and Eric Cantona, but Ferguson also landed flop signings like Bebe and Eric Djemba-Djemba.
Ferguson, who is considered one of the best managers of all time, bowed out of the Old Trafford hot seat at the end of the 2012-13 Premier League campaign.
The iconic Scot led United to their last Premier League title in 2013, with the Red Devils failing in their bid to win the trophy since Ferguson’s retirement.

Ferguson’s attempt to sign ex-Arsenal talent
Aaron Ramsey appeared on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football and opened up on the interest he received from Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United.
The 33-year-old Welsh midfielder caught the eye of United legend Ferguson during his first spell at Cardiff City, having risen through the club’s youth academy.
Ramsey, who is now back at Cardiff City, revealed that he had been invited to United’s training complex as part of the bid to lure him to Old Trafford.
Jamie Carragher hilariously asked Cardiff City player Ramsey if fellow Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville showed him around the training complex at United.
“No, it wasn’t Gary Neville [who showed me around the Manchester United training complex], I think he was busy that day,” Ramsey said.
“It was the assistant manager at the time, I can’t remember his name. It wasn’t Gary [Neville], no.”
Ferguson phoned Ramsey personally
Legendary former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger beat fierce rival Ferguson in the race to sign Aaron Ramsey from Cardiff City.
Ramsey signed for the Gunners in 2008 as part of a £5m move and the former Arsenal star enjoyed a successful spell with the London club.
The Wales international lifted three FA Cup trophies and Ramsey made 369 appearances for the Premier League club before his departure in 2019.
Ramsey, who left Arsenal and signed for Juventus, claimed that Ferguson wasn’t at the training complex for his tour, but the United legend phoned him a “few times.”
“No, no, he [Ferguson] was away,” he added.
“He was on the phone a few times and tried to convince me to go there, but the initial thought was for them to loan me back, but I wanted to go on then.”
