The 23-year-old Belgian shot-stopper has become United’s new No 1 in the 2025-26 Premier League season after Andre Onana was shipped out on loan to Trabzonspor.

Altay Bayindir has been playing a distant second fiddle to Lammens since the Red Devils summer signing made his debut in United’s 2-0 win over Sunderland.

Lammens has impressed United fans with his performances between the sticks and addressed a key issue that Ruben Amorim was experiencing with his shot-stoppers.

Senne Lammens reveals the impact that veteran Man Utd star Tom Heaton has had on him at Old Trafford

Senne Lammens arrived at Manchester United on deadline day in September, with the Red Devils paying £18.1m, including agreeing to add-ons, to Royal Antwerp.

The United No 1 had made a name for himself in the Belgian Pro League and the emerging prospect caught the eye of the Red Devils as a priority transfer.

United manager Ruben Amorim stuck with Altay Bayindir for the opening months of the 2025-26 Premier League campaign before turning to Lammens in October.

“What’s the price? 20 million Euros, that tells me he’s not a top goalkeeper.”

Speaking on United’s official podcast, Lammens has now talked up the impact that veteran player Tom Heaton had on him during his first few weeks at Old Trafford.

“I tell him every day, we were just talking about it, that he’s going to turn 40 in a couple of months!” Lammens told ‘Inside Carrington,’ as per Manchester United’s official website.

“I think Tom Heaton is [an] easy answer for that one. Just the type of human he is with also the experience and just [him] making me feel at home as well.

“But to be honest, the whole goalkeeper group is really good together.”

Senne Lammens talks about the Man Utd dynamic with the shot-stoppers, including Tom Heaton

Tom Heaton inked a new contract with United back in the summer and the 39-year-old experienced shot-stopper is widely admired at the Premier League club.

The former Burnley and Bristol City player returned to Old Trafford in 2021 after Heaton’s contract with Premier League side Aston Villa expired.

Lammens insisted that the likes of Heaton and Bayindir have built a “really friendly” dynamic when it comes to the shot-stoppers who are in the United first-team squad.

Ruben Amorim is excited about Senne Lammens

“He can kick long balls with a lot of quality with both feet, and that is a detail that can change the way we play the game.”

“Sometimes you could have it as well, especially in big clubs where you can feel that because you all have the same job, you want to all be playing,” he continued.

“But still, there’s a really good connection. It [is a] really friendly group and we just want to make each other better.

“So that was also really important for me at the beginning.”

Lammens is likely to be between the sticks for United’s upcoming Premier League clash against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday afternoon.
