Manchester United midfielder Casemiro is an inspiration for young players in his homeland, with good reason.

Casemiro was handed the Brazil international captaincy earlier this year and the armband was recognition of years of service to his national team, for who he now has 75 caps.

The 31-year-old midfielder has earned the role with his exploits at club level, where he won a staggering five Champions League titles with Real Madrid.

Now at Manchester United, Casemiro’s future at Old Trafford continues to the be the subject of debate, but his past achievements continue to serve as inspiration.

Casemiro an inspiration

Casemiro is an inspiration for footballers across Brazil, still playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world in the most competitive league.

He began his career back at Sao Paulo, where he is still held in especially high regard.

Current rising star Brian Carvalho is set to play for Sao Paulo’s under-20 side in the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior, and he has explained how he is using Casemiro as a guide for his own budding career, and he says he is not the only one.

He is quoted by Itatiaia: “Casemiro is a player that I am a big fan of. Everyone knows about the giant story he built in Europe and here in São Paulo.

“He is a great inspiration for all of us, especially for those like me, who are following the path in São Paulo’s youth categories.”

Manchester United looking forward to Casemiro return

Casemiro has not played a game for Manchester United since late October, when he suffered an injury.

He has returned to individual training at Carrington, although is not expected to make an immediate return until early 2024.

There is continued speculation over Casemiro’s future, with Marca claiming he has an offer from Saudi Arabia.

However, Fabrizio Romano insists he is still a big part of Erik ten Hag’s plans at Manchester United, unless the midfielder himself decides he wants to go.
