Fabrizio Romano says there is only one way Erik ten Hag and Casemiro’s situation changes

Fabrizio Romano says there is no rush on the side of Erik ten Hag to part ways with Manchester United midfielder Casemiro.

Casemiro has been out of action since October and is still a few weeks away from returning to the starting line-up.

There have been various rumours around Casemiro’s future at the club, with United having to find solutions without him, with Kobbie Mainoo‘s emergence providing lots of excitement.

The Mail report Football Director John Murtough was in Saudi Arabia to discuss potential opportunities to sell players, with Casemiro among those the club would be open to selling.

Casemiro still in Erik ten Hag plans

Casemiro was signed in Erik ten Hag‘s first transfer window in charge and has been a regular starter when he is fit.

The Brazilian is still regarded as important to the manager’s plans, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Romano told The United Stand: “The situation is very quiet. Casemiro is an important player for Erik ten Hag.

“I don’t see any change. The only way to change this is for a very important proposal for the player especially, at the moment it is not something concrete.”

Casemiro is believed to be happy at Manchester United, and is in the second year of a four-year contract.

A big money offer could sway him, but you could speculatively make this point about any player at the club.

And even if tempting offer arrived, Casemiro is not the kind of player United would necessarily look to sell mid-season.

It makes sense to listen

As for Murtough’s trip to Saudi Arabia, these connections are important to make. Saudi Pro League clubs are the only ones in football likely to be able to afford to take some of Manchester United’s players, if they are deemed surplus to requirements.

Chelsea made good use of this in the summer, cashing in on unwanted players and reducing their wage bill.

Manchester United did sell Alex Telles for a small fee, but more could have been done. It make sense for Murtough to make connections, and listen, opening the doors for future business – even if it is not immediate in January.
