Ryan Giggs has singled out a Premier League fixture where Michael Carrick captured the Manchester United ‘DNA’ at its very core in the Red Devils’ playing style.
Michael Carrick has overseen 12 Premier League matches since Ineos brought the 44-year-old Manchester United legend back to Old Trafford in January.
The Red Devils interim head coach has managed an impressive eight wins in the Old Trafford hot seat, including two draws and two defeats for the Red Devils.
Carrick’s interim reign at the Premier League club will last until the end of the 2025-26 campaign after Man Utd sacked Ruben Amorim as head coach back in January.

SURELY Ayden Heaven will start vs Chelsea? Or will Carrick try and find another solution? 🤔
Heaven played more minutes under Fletcher than so far under Carrick!
Ryan Giggs on the importance of Man Utd’s 2-0 Premier League win over Man City under Michael Carrick
Michael Carrick kicked off his interim Manchester United spell by defying the odds against Manchester City at Old Trafford in his first Premier League match in charge.
United inflicted a stunning 2-0 defeat on Pep Guardiola’s men, with Bryan Mbeumo and Patrick Dorgu both netting in the second half for Carrick’s side in January.
Carrick would pick up three more consecutive Premier League wins as interim head coach after Man Utd’s derby win over Manchester City at Old Trafford.
Speaking on Rio Ferdinand Presents, Ryan Giggs insisted that the match against Pep Guardiola’s side captured the ethos of the “United way” of football on the pitch.
“I think a strong personality and just the quiet way he’s gone about it,” he said.
“The way we played against Manchester City, that’s the United way, pass and move, pass and move.
“When you get the ball into the dribblers, you can make things happen; that’s when you can take risks.
“Man United has always been about no player being quicker than the ball, you saw that in the little triangle in the City game and that was after just a few days of training.”
Is Michael Carrick the right man? United have only won one of the last four games…
Ryan Giggs throws his backing behind Michael Carrick to become the next permanent Man Utd manager
Carrick has been tipped as a potential candidate to permanently succeed Ruben Amorim in the Old Trafford dugout at the end of the 2025-26 campaign.
Giggs feels that his former Red Devils teammate would be the ideal pick to become the seventh permanent United manager in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.
“Let’s see what he can do with a pre-season and getting the players he wants,” he added.
Carrick has five matches remaining as interim head coach and the Red Devils will return to Premier League action against Brentford next Monday at Old Trafford.
