Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has made his feelings perfectly clear on whether or not he plans to return to the managerial dugout in the future.

Ryan Giggs briefly served as interim manager for Manchester United in 2014 after David Moyes’ ill-fated spell at Old Trafford came to an end.

The 50-year-old United legend, who officially retired in 2014, took his first steps into coaching when he became a player-coach under former Red Devils boss Moyes.

Giggs was appointed assistant manager at United under Louis van Gaal and served under him until the Dutchman, much like Moyes, was axed from Old Trafford.

The former United star left Old Trafford in 2016 after Jose Mourinho replaced Van Gaal and later took up the role of Wales manager in 2018.

However, Giggs stepped away from the role at Wales after he was arrested on allegations relating to controlling behaviour and assaulting his ex-partner.

The former Wales boss, who denied the allegations, resigned as head coach of the Dragons in 2022 ahead of his trial over the charges made against him.

Giggs in 2023 was cleared of the allegations that he assaulted his former partner and her sister, but the United legend has not returned to the dugout since the trial.

Giggs on his managerial future

Ryan Giggs, who has raved about one current Manchester United star, broke his silence last month and ruled out managing one club in the immediate future.

Rob Page was part of Giggs’ coaching staff at Wales and became caretaker manager of the national team in 2020 after the former United star was arrested.

The 49-year-old Welshman succeeded Giggs permanently in 2022 and managed Wales at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

According to The Daily Mirror, Giggs appeared at an event in Chester and was asked about a potential return to management.

“I loved managing Wales, obviously,” he said.

“I do miss it, so hopefully [I can manage again].”

Giggs on managing Man Utd

Speaking to an audience at the Crowne Plaza Chester, Giggs recalled his brief interim spell at Old Trafford after Moyes had been sacked from the club.

Giggs took charge of United for four matches in the 2013-14 season, with the Red Devils winning two matches, drawing one and losing one under his reign.

According to the former Wales international, United’s 1-0 defeat to Sunderland in 2014 at Old Trafford made him realise that he wanted to become a manager.

“It was the one I lost which made me want to manage,” he said.

“I wouldn’t say I enjoyed it but I thought, ‘If you don’t perform, you’re out of the team.’

“It was then I knew that I definitely wanted to be a manager.”
