On Sunday, Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of his second Manchester United game as interim head coach.

This will see Chelsea visit Old Trafford in a drastically more difficult outing than Wednesday against Leicester City.

Ruud van Nistelrooy will have been pleased with how things went in the 5-2 win over Leicester City, as he quite clearly was touched by the response fans had to him.

The interim boss showed immediately what a poor job Erik ten Hag had been doing by coaching Manchester United to score five goals.

In the win, some players were in the spotlight that Ten Hag had been mistreating, such as Altay Bayindir who has now received 33 per cent of his appearances from Van Nistelrooy.

For one player, Ten Hag’s departure has provided a new lease on life and now Van Nistelrooy has been talking him up.

Ruud van Nistelrooy predicts Manuel Ugarte success

Speaking with the media before United’s game against Chelsea, several players were topics of interest for Van Nistelrooy.

As quoted by MEN journalist Samuel Luckhurst, one name was Manuel Ugarte, whom Van Nistelrooy is convinced of one thing about.

“I’m convinced about Manuel, that he will be a great player for United…

“He has very specific qualities where he gets in between players and recovers a lot of balls to get us into attacking positions… I think he’ll be a very good player for this club.”

Ugarte showed his best performance yet on Wednesday, and the £42m midfielder will be eager to get the chance to do so again on Sunday against the Blues.

Ruben Amorim could make Ugarte a star for Manchester United

Van Nistelrooy predicting a big future for Ugarte is a well-placed prediction considering Ruben Amorim is likely to be a big fan of the Uruguayan.

Ugarte played under Amorim at Sporting Lisbon before his PSG move, and so the pair know each other’s game well making Ugarte a player Amorim is likely to be fond of using.

Ugarte is likely one of the biggest winners from Amorim’s arrival and we fully expect him to live up to his billing and form a strong partnership with Kobbie Mainoo upon his return.

The 23-year-old will be hoping for a start against Chelsea, to announce himself on the highest stage against elite opposition.
