When Ruben Amorim was hired at Manchester United, the Red Devils were slumped in 13th place in the Premier League and desperately needed an injection of positivity.
Amorim targeted Premier League glory at United, but he only lasted 14 months before being sacked after a fallout with the club hierarchy.
Now, Amorim is in charge of AC Milan, but unlike at United, he has largely stayed away from the media.

Ruben Amorim wanted a smaller challenge after Man United
Recently, United CEO Omar Berrada suggested Amorim struggled with “the size” of United, accusing the head coach of being too rigid and too eager to prove his ideas worked.
It seems Amorim feels the same, based on new comments he made to the media. Italian journalist Daniele Longo captured the moment he spoke to press.
“If you see my only interview that I gave, it’s a club that is really special for me,” Amorim said about Milan.
“It’s a big challenge. I promised myself after the last one that I would choose a smaller challenge, but I’m here.
“I’m really proud to be here and I just want to work with my players and staff.”

Amorim’s comments are tongue-in-cheek, with the charismatic head coach joking that he has once again taken on a monumental challenge to rebuild Milan.
But even saying that he wanted a “smaller” challenge after leaving United shows what he thought of his time at Old Trafford. A challenge too big to tackle.
Now at Milan, Amorim must try and repair his broken reputation.
Amorim left United with a 38% win rate. He was highly-rated at Sporting Lisbon after his title-winning success, but his record at Old Trafford was miserable.
Interestingly, one of his first matches will be against Michael Carrick’s United when the two sides face in 2026 pre-season.
