Ruben Amorim told three former Man Utd managers all said same thing and ‘were all right’ with message, one was ‘vocal’

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has been warned that three of his predecessors were all firm on the same message about their time at Old Trafford.

The 40-year-old Portuguese is Manchester United’s sixth permanent manager since the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson bowed out of the Premier League club in 2013.

United triggered the £9.25m release clause for Ruben Amorim when he was at Sporting CP and the Red Devils boss arrived at Old Trafford last November.

Amorim inked a deal until June 2027 and the ex-Sporting CP head coach replaced former United manager Erik ten Hag in the Old Trafford dugout.

Erik ten Hag’s reign at Old Trafford came to an end last October after he was sacked by the Premier League club amid United’s poor run of form in the league.

United’s struggles have continued since Amorim’s appointment, with the Red Devils currently languishing in 15th place in the Premier League table this season.

Amorim sent Man Utd warning

Ruben Amorim faces a mammoth task ahead of him at Old Trafford and the Manchester United manager has experienced a frustrating time so far.

United are only 12 points clear of 18th-place Ipswich Town in the Premier League table and are 15 points adrift from fourth-place Manchester City.

Amorim has remained firm on his decision to play with his tactical system, despite his critics urging him to temporarily abandon his formation at United.

Speaking in his column for CaughtOffside, Stan Collymore has claimed that he is ‘worried’ that Amorim could make the decision to move on himself.

He added that ex-United managers Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Erik ten Hag had all said “what’s wrong” at Old Trafford during their reigns at the club.

“For Man United, they’ve got the right man, but instead of sacking him, it might be a case of him having had enough and going back to Portugal,” Stan Collymore explained.

“Jose Mourinho was vocal about what’s wrong at Old Trafford. Erik ten Hag said it. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said it.

“Every single Man United manager over the last seven or eight years has said it and they were all right. And that’s the worry.

“I don’t worry about Man United moving on from Ruben Amorim but my worry is that Ruben Amorim will move on from Man United.”

Collymore on Man Utd and Tottenham

Stan Collymore also spoke out about the problems United and Tottenham face off the pitch in their respective hierarchies after Spurs’ 1-0 win last weekend.

“Spurs v Man United…. Daniel Levy and Sir Jim Ratcliffe… protests at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and the Man United Supporters Trust almost putting out daily statements on the reckless running of the club and a genuine concern now about the stripping back of finances,” he said.

“To think that this fixture used to be about two of English football’s top six clubs. Supporters of both clubs are now incessantly on social media begging for that new owner to come in and blow everybody else out [of] the water.

“For Tottenham, is Ange Postecoglou a league title-winning manager or a regular top-four manager? Will he get the same amount of years as Mikel Arteta has had at Arsenal?

“I doubt it, because Daniel Levy always looks to pull the rug and then get the new shiny manager to walk through the door.”
