Ruben Amorim shares whether Benjamin Sesko will play for Manchester United vs Arsenal

Manchester United’s new season kicks off this weekend when Arsenal arrive at Old Trafford, with several big decisions to make.

Ruben Amorim will be delighted that he is starting this season without a clear strongest attack, which is a massive boost from last season.

With Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo signed, there will be strong competition alongside Joshua Zirkzee and Mason Mount.

Amorim has turned away from using Rasmus Hojlund, having left him on the bench for the last game against Fiorentina.

It will be very interesting to see who Amorim picks for his first Manchester United line-up of the campaign against Arsenal.

It is a baptism of fire for United and arguably one of the season’s biggest games of the season right off the bat, however, this could be an opportunity to build serious momentum.

Now, it will be interesting to see who Amorim picks up front, with United’s newest signing Benjamin Sesko among the options.

Ruben Amorim finally has a striker fitting his system, with Sesko having the speed, height and physicality which are all improvements on the player Hojlund has become in the past 18 months.

However, having only had a week training with his new teammates, Sesko wasn’t a guaranteed starter.

So as expected, this topic was raised to Amorim during his pre-Arsenal press conference.

“Physically he is ready, a big component in our league. Then he is really smart, every detail he ask, he is always thinking. We will see if he starts.”

This could mean either situation is possible with Amorim unlikely to give away the biggest question unknown of his selection this Sunday.

Amorim also shared an update on Zirkzee, Andre Onana and other players who have been on the sidelines this summer.

“Nous and Licha are out,” confirmed the head coach at the new Carrington training ground. “They cannot play in this game. Josh recovered, Andre recovered, they are options for this game, we will see.”

Not only did Amorim suggest that Sesko is probably in line for a debut of some kind this weekend, but he also praised the Slovenian.

“I can see Ben being a striker at this club for many years”, Amorim remarked. “That is why we paid a lot of money. He didn’t have a lot of time [training], but physically, he is ready.”

Amorim went on to praise Sesko for his work ethic, explaining that the striker is doing everything he needs to do in order to reach the highest levels.

Amorim seems thrilled to have Sesko in his team, but he will be hoping that United experience an immediate boost from the new striker.
