Ruben Amorim has split opinion at Manchester United but he has been consistently honest with fans throughout his tenure.
There was huge pressure on Ruben Amorim leading into the October international break, but a comfortable 2-0 win over Sunderland afforded him more time in the Old Trafford hotseat.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe supports Amorim and insists the Portuguese head coach deserves three years in the job before being judged.
Next month will mark Ruben Amorim’s first full year in charge of United, but before that, he faces a crucial clash against arch-rivals Liverpool at Anfield.

Ruben Amorim on Man United’s expectations this season
Losing the Europa League final last season means that there are no European distractions for United this season – all focus is on the Premier League.
Amorim is expected to finish top six, but the Red Devils currently sit 10th after an underwhelming start to the season.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Amorim was very honest with supporters about what the “steps to success” are at Old Trafford.
“I think it’s official that we want to go to Europe, we need to return to Europe. But we don’t know what’s going to happen.
“I don’t like to call success going to Europe in this club, this club’s success is winning the Premier League.
“What we have to be is honest with our fans that we are not in that moment. We need to be really clear on that. So I’m not going to call success going to Europe, or finish in the first eight or six.
“That is not success here. But we need to give steps to success. Success in our club is winning the Premier League, nothing less.”
Ruben Amorim is resetting expectations at Man United
Fixing United’s problems simply has no short-term solution.
Amorim’s ultimate aim is to win the league, but that can’t happen overnight, and he has been extremely honest and transparent about his long-term project with the club.
The win over Sunderland proved that players still support Amorim despite the poor results domestically, and the Liverpool game is a chance to finally win back-to-back league matches under Amorim.
Amorim has begun to adapt tactics as he continues to learn about the Premier League, but supporters need results to improve sooner rather than later.
