Ruben Amorim has made sure that every Manchester United player has had the chance to impress in his first month as manager.

The Portuguese head coach is slowly but surely finding his strongest XI at Manchester United, and there can be no complaints from any players that they didn’t have the chance to shine.

According to reports, United players like Amorim’s rotation policy despite ex-Red Gary Neville suggesting it shows a lack of trust.

Ruben Amorim has been eager to try different combinations and also experiment with players in different roles as they adapt to his 3-4-3 formation.

Noussair Mazraoui has shone at centre-back, while Amad Diallo has impressed at wing-back and more recently as a No.10.

What Ruben Amorim has said about Antony

One United player who needs things to work out under Amorim is Antony – the 24-year-old has dropped down the pecking order at Old Trafford and faces an uncertain future if he cannot turn things around.

Reports suggest that Amorim is open to selling Antony in 2025, but his latest comments suggest he could yet revive his career at United if he is able to “defend more”.

“I think, when we started, everybody is from scratch,” Amorim said after the 2-1 win over Man City.

“We took like one month to explain that everything has a new beginning because every person deserves a new beginning and the power is in their hands because, if they show it, I will put them into play.

“I just want to win. They are responsible to play, not me.

“He did a great job improving in that position. He has to defend more but he has the ability to do it and has to do it himself.”

Antony could star at wing-back for Man United

Antony has struggled to live up to the huge £81m transfer fee that United paid for him in 2022.

His attacking output has been heavily scrutinised, so a shift to wing-back could suit him well, especially as Antony’s defensive statistics are some of the best among wingers.

Amad has impressed at right wing-back, but ideally he will want to stay at No.10 after starring in Sunday’s derby victory.

Antony is running out of chances to salvage his career at United, but committing to learning the wing-back role is one way he could turn things around.
