Manchester United have received some positive injury news ahead of the crucial Premier League clash against Liverpool.

After the October international break, Manchester United’s Premier League campaign resumes with a trip to Anfield to face arch-rivals Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.

Ruben Amorim is targeting European qualification this season, and victory this weekend would lift the Red Devils to just two points off the reigning champions.

But United’s last win at Anfield was in 2016, so Ruben Amorim and his players face a tough task to pick up points on Merseyside.

The good news is that United have received a promising injury update ahead of the clash.

Man United receive Noussair Mazraoui injury boost

Last season, Noussair Mazraoui was considered a bargain as he enjoyed a brilliant debut season at Old Trafford.

However, in 2025/26, he has made only three appearances with a total of just 132 minutes in the Premier League.

Mazraoui suffered an injury before the break, meaning he was also left out of the Morocco squad. But it seems he is on track to return against Liverpool.

As per Samuel Luckhurst, United have been encouraged by Noussair Mazraoui’s recovery, meaning he could return to Amorim’s squad on Sunday afternoon.

Noussair Mazraoui was ‘silky’ vs Liverpool last season

In Amorim’s only meeting with Liverpool so far, United drew 2-2 at Anfield last season and were unlucky to not come away with three points.

In that match, Mazraoui was ‘silky’ vs Liverpool and was easily one of United’s best performers on the day.

Mazraoui played at right wing-back in the match, but United will field a very different back line as Andre Onana and Lisandro Martinez also started in the draw.

Amad Diallo and Diogo Dalot have both played on the right this season, with Mazraoui spending minutes as a right-sided centre-back as well as a wing-back.

Amorim will have plenty of selection decisions to make on Sunday afternoon, including whether or not to throw Mazraoui straight back into the mix.
