Ruben Amorim is now gearing up for game number three as his Manchester United side begins to take shape.
After Thursday night’s 3-2 win against Bodo/Glimt under the lights of Old Trafford, things are becoming clear under Ruben Amorim.
Already Noussiar Mazraoui looks untouchable for Amorim after back-to-back standout performances as a central defender.
Meanwhile, Mason Mount is a surprising winner from Amorim’s appointment as he looked promising against Bodo/Glimt. Mount’s role in the third goal will have justified the head coach’s backing.
However, some player’s importance under Erik ten Hag has been carried over into the Amorim era at Manchester United. Now the Portuguese boss has been discussing this star.

Ruben Amorim highlights importance of Diogo Dalot
Speaking to the club media on Friday, Amorim was discussing the role of Diogo Dalot at United.
“It [He] is very powerful, we have to rotate him sometimes because he always looks fresh, but he is not like that, he is not a machine.”

Continuing, Amorim explained that a positional change could actually be in order for Dalot while highlighting his importance.
“I think he plays better on the right and we will manage to put him on the right.
“He is a very good player, very powerful that can play both sides and nowadays, a player that can play on both sides is perfect because you can put him in different positions. I expect the same as last year that you saw.
“A great player that can help the team and he is really a team player, you can feel it in every way, he leads the game and he is very important for us.”
Diogo Dalot is already a favourite at Manchester United
Under Ten Hag, Dalot went through an 11-month streak of starting every single game. However, in game two, Amorim ended this streak.

However, this is no slight against Dalot but rather exactly what he needed as at times it felt like Ten Hag was running him into the ground through overplaying.
Amorim has shown he’s willing to rotate, but his comments pre-Everton have suggested that Dalot is a player he wants on the pitch as much as possible.
How he gets Dalot back on the right will be intriguing though as so far the right has been occupied by wingers. Perhaps against Arsenal, we will see a slightly more defensive line-up.
