Ruben Amorim confirms Manchester United star is back in consideration for derby, makes confident fitness statement

Ruben Amorim has been talking with the media ahead of Sunday’s trip across Manchester to the Etihad.

Manchester United were in the Czech Republic on Thursday night, and now less than 24 hours later, Ruben Amorim is back in front of the cameras for another press conference.

It was a good mid-week for the United head coach, as Amorim joined Sir Alex Ferguson and Sir Matt Busby in the history books

The 2-1 win over Plzen was a much-needed confidence booster for Amorim and United after two consecutive losses.

Now, all eyes are on the Manchester Derby at 4.30 pm on Sunday. With Amorim sharing team news on Friday.

Manchester United team news to face Manchester City

Over the past few weeks, regular rotation has left Amorim in an excellent position in regard to the strength of the squad available.

Now, Amorim has been speaking on MUTV, with his update on team news being a positive one.

“But I think everyone is going to be fit and ready to win the game. [Jonny Evans?] Yeah, he’s training already.”

If Evans is available, then United will have a fully fit and available team apart from Luke Shaw who we imagine is not in line to return against City.

This is a luxury Erik ten Hag practically never had, which Amorim has handed himself through rotation – something Ten Hag never did.

Ruben Amorim not excited for the Manchester Derby

Despite it being one of the season’s biggest games, it is not a game which will see the two clubs at their very best level.

United are still learning the new system while City are in a run of one win in 10 games.

Due to this, Amorim has admitted he is actually more excited for future Manchester Derby games which he predicts will be contested over titles.

“Both teams are struggling at the moment, so I hope, in the future, I feel that real feeling of a derby. But I know that it’s really important for our fans. But my goal now is to improve the team, and win games and I will try to win this game.

“I’m really focused on the details, I just want to improve the team so I cannot treat it like a normal derby. It should be like two great teams fighting for the title and it is not that in this moment.”
