Ruben Amorim gave a very honest assessment after Manchester United drew with Tottenham Hotspur to stretch their unbeaten run to five matches.
Manchester United drew 2-2 against Tottenham to throw away an opportunity to get back to winning ways in the Premier League.
It was the second week in a row that United went in at half-time with a 1-0 lead, before collapsing in the second half by conceding two goals and requiring a late equaliser to clinch a point.
Bryan Mbeumo scored the opener as United’s new signing found the back of the net for the sixth time this season. The Cameroon international caused Tottenham problems in the first half, but his influence was less noticeable after the break.
Former United target Mathys Tel produced an 84th-minute equaliser before Richarlison’s shot deflected into the net by Wilson Odobert in the first minute of stoppage time.
Tottenham thought they had won the game until Matthijs de Ligt scored from a towering header in the sixth minute of added time.

United were the better team on the day by some distance.
The same could be said last week when United drew 2-2 against Nottingham Forest, but they should be seen as missed opportunities because the Red Devils collected two points instead of six.
Amorim believes Tottenham were there for the taking today, but noted how United conceded two goals after Harry Maguire and Casemiro came off.
The United head coach took a positive from the team’s newfound belief as they scored late on – yet again – to secure a point.
It’s always best to draw a game if you’re not going to win it, which is the approach Amorim took in his honest post-match interview.
“During the game we felt like the three points were there to take home,” Amorim told TNT Sports.
“But then with everything that happened, Harry Maguire and Casemiro coming off and conceding two goals… we scored again and it’s a point.
“When you cannot win you don’t lose, once again we did that. We have so much to grow as a team, because today was our day to win this game.
“We need to look at ourselves, we were not pressing with the same intensity, we felt comfortable but we need to understand that if we had more bravery we kill the game. But sometimes this happens, you have a better first half than second.
“We believe in our capacity to score goals until the last minute.”
Amorim makes a good point because a win would have taken United above Tottenham in the Premier League table.

United didn’t get back to winning ways on Saturday, but the unbeaten run now stands at five matches.
The only team in the Premier League on a longer unbeaten run is title contenders Arsenal, who haven’t lost any of their last seven matches.
