Roy Keane sent Manchester United fans into overdrive on social media after the Irishman confirmed a reunion with the best teammate from his whole playing career.

The 53-year-old Irishman is widely regarded as one of the best midfielders and captains in Premier League history after a legendary playing career.

Roy Keane shared the pitch with a star-studded roster of players at Old Trafford, including the likes of Paul Scholes, Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Manchester United legend was a linchpin midfield figure and leader under Sir Alex Ferguson during his prolific playing spell at the Red Devils.

Signed from Nottingham Forest for £3.75m in 1993 — a British transfer record at the time — Keane was admired for his no-nonsense approach on and off the pitch.

Keane ascended to the United captaincy after Eric Cantona’s retirement in 1997 and he famously captained his side to a famous continental treble in 1999.

The former United captain lifted seven Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy and four FA Cups before his exit from Old Trafford in 2005.

Keane saw out the remainder of his playing career at Celtic after Sir Alex Ferguson axed him from United before he retired from football as a player in 2006.

Keane reuniting with Man Utd legend

Manchester United legend Roy Keane has become one of the leading pundits in football after he walked away from his managerial and coaching career.

The former Nottingham Forest star has become a key pundit for Sky Sports and often appeared on ITV for international coverage, including major tournaments.

Keane has carried over his demeanour to punditry and the ex-United skipper has not been afraid to pull no punches when he is on the microphone.

The Sky Sports pundit has also become a staple for The Overlap’s Stick to Football show, appearing alongside former United teammate Gary Neville.

Keane has now revealed that he will be linking up with fellow United legend Denis Irwin for an upcoming episode of the Stick to Football podcast.

Posting on Instagram, the former United midfielder shared a photo of him wearing a spoofed T-shirt from the Step Brothers film.

Keane’s head has replaced Will Ferrell’s on the shirt and Denis Irwin’s head has been put on John C Reilly’s, with United fans absolutely loving the Step Brothers spoof.

“Guess who’s on the podcast tomorrow,” he wrote to his followers, adding an eyes emoji alongside an Ireland flag emoji.

Keane’s praise for Man Utd legend Irwin

Keane played alongside Denis Irwin for both club and country and previously called the United legend the best teammate he had in his entire illustrious career.

Speaking to Gary Neville on The Overlap in 2021, he said: “I’d have to maybe go with Denis Irwin [as my best teammate] because I roomed with Irwin [for] Ireland and United.

“And he’s a Cork man, even though he lives five minutes away and never gets in touch with me.”

Irwin arrived at the Red Devils from Oldham Athletic in 1990 and he excelled under legendary former United manager Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford.

The 59-year-old Irishman is one of the best Premier League left-backs of all time and the versatile Irwin was more than capable of playing on both flanks.

Irwin, who was proficient with penalties and free-kicks, lifted seven Premier League titles, a Champions League, two FA Cups and a League Cup with the Red Devils.

Keane waxed lyrical about his fellow Irishman and the United legend insisted that Irwin was one of five “world-class” players he played alongside at Old Trafford.
