Roy Keane makes positive claim about Man United after win over Everton

Roy Keane has given a positive verdict on Manchester United as the Red Devils made it five wins from their last six games with victory over Everton.

Erik ten Hag looked to be under increasing pressure as Manchester United manager at the start of the month but three weeks later, the Dutchman is proving people wrong.

Following the 4-3 defeat to FC Copenhagen in the UEFA Champions League, his time at United looked to be under threat, but five wins out of six in all competitions will ease that pressure.

The win over Everton at Goodison Park, which was billed as a very tough game, will be a huge boost for the Red Devils ahead of a tough month of fixtures.

Keane’s belief

One man who is notoriously tough to please is Roy Keane. However, speaking on Sky Sports after the game, Keane believes that United may be on the cusp of something exciting.

“There were signs, particularly in the second half, that the swagger from United was coming back. Despite Everton being poor, United showed their class,” Keane said.

During the second half, the Red Devils did seem to discover the swagger and the dominance of games that served them so well last season.

Rashford’s goal was a penalty but the third from Anthony Martial, who could be on his way out of the club next summer, was an outstanding team goal. After good work from Facundo Pellistri, the ball found its way to Bruno Fernandes, who played a devastating for the Frenchman to finish.

United’s attacking struggles

Perhaps the biggest relief for Ten Hag, apart from the victory over Sean Dyche’s Everton, is that all three of the players in his forward line scored.

Goals, particularly from their strikers, have been hard to come by for United as this recent three-goal win only takes their Premier League goal difference to 0.

With some of the Premier League’s most in-form sides still to come for Ten Hag before the end of the calendar year, having their forwards firing on all cylinders will be vital to keep in touch with the top four.
