Former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane has made a surprise Marcus Rashford comment and believes he has a chance to break a key record.
Marcus Rashford had a poor campaign last season under Erik ten Hag as the Englishman’s issues off the field seemed to affect his performances on it.
However, this season represents a clean slate for the Englishman and Rashford has already impressed during pre-season.
With the signing of Joshua Zirkzee confirmed last month, Rashford could be one of these players to benefit from that addition and it is hoped he has a big season.

Roy Keane makes Marcus Rashford claim
Since breaking through at United back in 2016, after Anthony Martial was injured during the warmup of a Europa League game against FC Midtjylland, Rashford has scored 131 competitive goals for the Red Devils, which is an impressive return.
Speaking on the Stick To Football Podcast ahead of the new season, the guests were reminiscing on pre-season before the conversation turned to Rooney’s records.
One record that Wayne Rooney has intact is being United’s all-time top goalscorer after breaking the record against Stoke City during the 2016/17 season.
When Gary Neville claimed that Rooney’s record would be safe for 15 years, Keane made a point about Rashford.
“How many has Rashford got,” Keane asks. “He’s on 131, so he’ll need another 130 goals to break Rooney’s record,” Neville responds.
“If he gets fit, he’s got a chance, you know he’s near it and it’s not totally out of the question,” Keane responds.
Rashford in for a key season at United
Whilst he is still far away from breaking Rooney’s goalscoring record, which stands at 253 goals for the Red Devils, this season could be an important one for the United forward.
The conditions at United are certainly set up for Rashford to succeed and if Zirkzee is starting up front for the Red Devils against Fulham, then the Englishman could flourish.
During pre-season, Rashford has had a hunger about him and has been dangerous every time he has played for the Red Devils and the 26-year-old must have a good season for United as time is running out for him to prove himself.
