Manchester United legend Roy Keane has given a positive verdict on Bruno Fernandes playing out of position for the club.
Fernandes began the Carabao Cup in his normal central attacking midfield role, before being moved out to the right wing.
This was to accommodate a returning Jadon Sancho, who featured in the number 10 role, shifting Fernandes out wide.
On this occasion it all worked out well, with Fernandes helping to create Manchester United’s second goal, with Sancho also involved in the build-up.

Roy Keane praises Fernandes
Speaking to Sky Sports’ post-game coverage, Keane says he has seen that Fernandes has the ability to make the role work.
Keane said: “That’s what good players give you, he can play off the front, he’s not a wide right player, he will come in and play in pockets, he knows where the space is.
“Like all brilliant players he’s got intelligence, he’ll hurt you. He’s a huge player for United.”
Fernandes has made this role work on and off throughout the season. His versatility is an asset which manager Erik ten Hag likes.
The Portugal international has been captaining the side in recent months, with Harry Maguire left out of the line-up, and has a good chance to continue this at Wembley.
United will need him at his best over the next few weeks. Fernandes looks like he is up for the challenge, doing everything his manager asks.
