Roy Keane, Paul Scholes and Ian Wright have all reacted to the exploits of one former Manchester United and England star in the 2025-26 campaign.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright linked up with ex-Manchester United stars Paul Scholes and Roy Keane on the latest episode of the Stick to Football podcast on The Overlap.

United will return to action this weekend for their final clash ahead of the international break, with the Red Devils losing only once in their last five matches.

Spurs will host United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday afternoon, with kick-off for the Premier League match slated for 12:30pm UK time.

The Red Devils had won three consecutive Premier League matches in October ahead of United’s 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

Gary Neville asks Roy Keane about former Man Utd and England striker Danny Welbeck

Former England striker Danny Welbeck has become the talk of the town after his resurgence in form at Brighton in the Premier League in the 2025-26 campaign.

The 34-year-old ex-Manchester United star has now scored an impressive six times in Brighton’s opening 10 Premier League matches this season.

Danny Welbeck’s rich vein of form after an injury-hit career has led to discussion around whether or not Thomas Tuchel should include him in his England plans.

Gary Neville asked the panellists on the Stick to Football show: “Danny Welbeck, should he go to the World Cup?”

Roy Keane admitted that Welbeck has a “chance” of playing at the 2026 World Cup, with the Manchester United legend keen for him to be called up to the squad.

“Yeah, I don’t know if you can say, ‘Can he go to [the World Cup]?’ He’s got to be in with a chance,” he responded to Gary Neville.

“In the squad. Get him back in the squad. In the group.”

Paul Scholes and Ian Wright’s verdicts on Danny Welbeck and whether England should take him to the 2026 World Cup

Danny Welbeck, who has been at Brighton since 2020 after he left Watford, has been capped 42 times for England and netted 16 times for the Three Lions.

Ian Wright insisted that the ex-United striker’s run of form and exploits in a Brighton shirt this season should lead to a call-up from England manager Thomas Tuchel.

“Because he’s scoring and he’s taking good chances,” he said.

“He’s playing really well. You can see where he is with the way he’s taking the chances. If he carries on doing that for the season […].”

Interjecting, Paul Scholes responded: “If it was now, you would [take him], wouldn’t you?”

Wright then continued: “Yeah. Yeah. If it comes to the end of the season and he’s still having a good season.”

Scholes then added: “Oh, yeah. Definitely.”

Welbeck was a United youth academy product and the former Three Lions international lifted a Premier League title and two League Cups with the Red Devils.
