Carrington graduate Danny Welbeck will return to Old Trafford this weekend as Manchester United look to make it three consecutive Premier League wins.
Sunday’s 2-1 victory over Liverpool finally gave Ruben Amorim back-to-back Premier League wins as Manchester United head coach.
But after the full-time whistle at Anfield, Amorim was quick to remind his players that it means nothing unless they build consistency and replicate their efforts against Brighton on Saturday afternoon.

In preparation for this weekend’s match, Amorim will be planning to keep former United striker Danny Welbeck quiet on his return to Old Trafford.

Danny Welbeck opens up on Old Trafford return
It has been 11 years since Welbeck was sold by United, and the now 34-year-old continues to go from strength to strength at Brighton.
Welbeck remains close to United and is still in touch with former manager Sir Alex Ferguson years after his exit. Having been born in Manchester and graduated from Carrington, there is still a special connection between Welbeck and the club.
Speaking on the Monday Night Club podcast, Welbeck was asked about how he feels about his return to Old Trafford.
“Yeah, I love it. I’m a Manchester boy, I’m a fan at heart. So it’s just like, it’s just home for me and like my friends and family are all there,” Welbeck said.
“Obviously, the first time I went back, it was very strange, I would say, because obviously growing up at Manchester United, it was all that I knew.
“So to even like go back and warm up on the other side of the pitch or go into a different dressing room, it’s so strange. But I’ve done it numerous times now, and it’s just like any other game really.”
Man United told they made Danny Welbeck mistake
It was a ‘sad day’ when Welbeck was sold given he came through the ranks at United, and he has not let his former club forget it.
Wayne Rooney wanted Welbeck to return, believing he would have been a perfect fit for Ruben Amorim’s United.
Reports suggest United considered re-signing Welbeck, before co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe stepped in to intervene.
At 34 years old, he doesn’t exactly fit Ineos’ new transfer strategy of signing young and upcoming talents.
But Welbeck has already netted four times in eight matches this season, and United will have to be wary of this attacking threat on the weekend.
