Roy Keane admits he would never do what Erik ten Hag did with Jadon Sancho

Jadon Sancho remains on the fringes for Manchester United as he is banished to reserves, now Roy Keane has given his verdict.

Erik ten Hag and Jadon Sancho‘s public dispute has dragged on and on in recent weeks with no end in sight.

It is expected that Erik ten Hag is awaiting an apology from the winger, while Jadon Sancho is unwilling to do that.

Due to this, it is widely expected that Sancho will be leaving Old Trafford this winter.

With Sancho now eating and drinking with the academy due to being banished from first team facilities, Roy Keane has had his say.

Speaking on the Stick to Football podcast alongside Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, Ian Wright and Jill Scott, Roy Keane gave his verdict on the Sancho dilemma.

When asked, he admitted he wouldn’t have went the same way Erik ten Hag did, and that he “would never banish the player to go and play with the reserves.”

Following this however he did add that if someone isn’t performing in training then they need discipline, but stayed strong on the fact he wouldn’t banish a player.

Keane is a notorious hard authoritarian in management, but this Ten Hag move is even a step too far for him.

Carragher urges Sancho to move on

Speaking on the same podcast, Jamie Carragher added to Roy Keane’s view.

He admitted that he is “always with the managers” on issues like this and that he is “sick of players coming out and saying ‘you can’t say this, you can’t say that'”.

He added that he didn’t think what Ten Hag said was that bad in the grand scheme of things.

“It’s not even heavy criticism, if you’ve been training right the lads in the changing room will know, he’s not going to say that if he has been training right.”
