Matheus Cunha has become the latest Brazil international to sign for Manchester United.

Manchester United completed the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves in a deal worth £62.5 million.

It means Cunha is the first signing United have made in the summer transfer window. Ineos can now move on to other targets as Ruben Amorim aims to bolster his squad ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

The 26-year-old has signed a contract until June 2030, with the option of an additional year.

Cunha explained it was a dream to join United after watching the Red Devils on TV during his childhood.

The Brazil international has a month to recharge his batteries before returning for pre-season preparations at Carrington.

Cunha will be on the pre-season tour of the United States, where he will get a chance to get to know his new teammates and coaching staff.

Matheus Cunha is the man of the moment.

After recording an assist in his last outing for Brazil, Cunha completed his transfer to United.

Cunha will hope to have a greater impact at Old Trafford than some of the Brazilians that came before him, such as Antony.

Brazil icon Ronaldinho has shared a picture alongside Cunha following his transfer to United.

The picture also features Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr and Brazil icon Ronaldo. It is captioned: “Nice review!!!”

After missing out on many Brazilian players in the past – and signing a few flops – Cunha will want to be remembered for succeeding in the red shirt.

That should be his focus after joining United.

Unlike Cunha, Ronaldinho turned down the opportunity to sign for United when the opportunity came his way.

Ronaldinho left Paris Saint-Germain for Barcelona and went on to become one of the best players in the world.

Contrary to common belief, former United chief executive David Gill claims they were never close to signing Ronaldinho because he was always destined for Barcelona.

That doesn’t mean United didn’t try to sign the Brazilian magician.

United could have looked very different with Ronaldinho in the team.
